Stuffed Green Peppers

Ever tried to make stuffed green peppers, but was disappointed to find they were missing a kick? I always really liked the idea of stuffed green peppers, but had yet to find a recipe that really did it justice... until now!

Here's what you'll need:

3-4 large green peppers
5 c. water
1 lb. ground beef (or ground turkey)
1/4 c. yellow onion, chopped
1/2 c. celery, chopped
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. worcestershire sauce
1/2 c. instant rice, uncooked
1/2 c. water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut each bell pepper lengthwise in half. Wash the insides and outsides of the peppers, removing seeds and membranes.

Bring 5 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Place a bowl of cold water to the side. Blanch the green peppers by placing them in the boiling water for 10 seconds, then pull them out and immediately drop them in the cold water.

In a large skillet, cook the meat, onion, and celery until the meat is brown. Drain off excess fat. Stir in half of the tomato sauce and remaining ingredients. Heat to just a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes.

Place the peppers on an ungreased baking pan. Spoon the meat filling into each pepper, then cover the pan with tin foil. Bake for 25 minutes, then remove the tin foil, add remaining tomato sauce, and bake an additional 5 minutes. Then serve!
