German Pancakes

When I was in junior high, the highlight of my social life surrounded slumber parties. One of my favorite parts about our sleepovers was german pancakes in the morning!

Here's what you'll need (in order of appearance):

  • 2 Tbsp. butter/margarine
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt

To get started, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Put the butter in a 9x13 oblong pan and place it in the preheating oven (to melt the butter, silly).

While the oven is preheating, mix 6 eggs in a medium bowl until they turn a nice lemony color.

Then add milk, flour, and salt to the egg mixture. Blend until thoroughly mixed (about 1 minute). Now the cooking experts will tell you that you should always mix your dry ingredients seperate from your liquids, but walk on the wild side for once and try to resist that urge!

Once your oven has finished preheating, take the pan out of the oven and pour your mixture into the pan.

Place the pan back in the oven and bake for 15 minutes (until the edges turn golden brown).

Now, now, don't freak out! The edges are suppose to curl up! That is part of the fun! In fact, I think that it why I secretly adore german pancakes.

Okay, now cut the pancake into slices and serve with your favorite topping (syrup, nutella, or fresh fruit are all excellent options).
